Maker’s Focus – The Wild Knits

Scotland has a deeply ingrained tradition of knitting and weaving using techniques that are unique. Our carefully selected mills such as Scott & Charters use the longest and finest quality yarns from Todd & Duncan, all naturally biodegradable, renewable and recyclable -from 100% luxury cashmeres to the most exquisite wools. Using only the finest and longest white Cashmere fibres, combed from the Cashmere goat, they produce a luxurious cashmere yarn, unrivalled in quality and consistency.

We believe that the secret to long lasting, luxury knitwear starts right at the beginning with the best selection of yarns. Nothing compares to Scottish cashmere and wool. It is created to last and pairs beautifully with our impeccable Scottish tweed tailoring.

The yarns are washed in the local rivers in a process called ‘milling’.  Using the pure Scottish water ensures the fibre’s will mature and soften as they are washed, worn and loved.

After the yarn has been prepared the real handwork comes in, jumpers all being hand cut and linked and then crafted into investment pieces which will make lasting, versatile additions to your wardrobe.  Knitting ‘in the round’ is another technique our mills use in some of our designs to ensure no wastage in the production and no bulky seams.

Natalie selects a new range of knits each season, introducing fresh, innovative designs to the new season so our customer will gain maximum versatility from each piece and work well for daily life. As we all value comfort and luxury in what we wear, our knitwear is both practical and luxurious and will last for years to come if looked after well.  Having always championed ‘Made in Scotland’ since 2002, we are proud to continue to support these mills.
